On March 20th, the Central Panhandle Association of REALTORS and the City of Panama City’s Quality of Life Department will join forces to improve a public space located in the Cove: Adams Park. We will hold a volunteer workday to clean up and add new elements to the park so that is a more enjoyable place for residents.
At the end of 2020, CPAR saw an opportunity to apply for a grant from the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) for placemaking. Placemaking is a way to make your community a better place to live by transforming unused sites and “eyesores” into welcoming destinations accessible to everyone in a community. Our area, having been devastated by Hurricane Michael, had many public spaces that could be considered eyesores or unusable. CPAR reached out to the City of Panama City to determine the area where they saw the greatest need and put forth our application on the national level. The project was awarded the top-level grant for placemaking that NAR has to offer. The grant will supply flowers and soil for the park and three new swing benches which will be installed by the City separately.
On the morning of March 20th, REALTORS® and volunteers will meet up at 9 am in the St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club parking lot where we will be shuttled to the park. The City of Panama City will provide all tools necessary for planting flowers and CPAR will bring the coffee, water, and light breakfast. Grab your gardening gloves and join us as we lead the way in improving our little piece of paradise, one place at a time. Parking is limited at Adams Park. Volunteers can RSVP at www.CPAR.us/AdamsPark
