The Central Panhandle Association of Realtors® is proud to announce that they raised over $118,000 during their campaign “The House That CPAR Built.” The campaign has been ongoing since 2019 and has included a series of projects ranging from engraved brick sales, t-shirt sales, auctions, sponsored events, in-kind donations, and member donation drives. All proceeds of the campaign will benefit the Habitat of Humanity of Bay County.
CPAR presented the 2022 total funds to Habitat for Humanity of Bay County at their Annual Membership Meeting on September 21, 2022. Angela Klopf, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Bay County and Ashly Cooper, the Habitat home recipient accepted the check on behalf of the organization.
Our first fully funded Habitat Home recipient, Ashly Cooper, is a local single mom with a young son. She has been a hands-on participant in the building of her home which is nearing completion and will be clear to close before the end of the year. This change of living arrangements will move her out of a small RV and into a comfortable three-bedroom home. She looks forward to sit-down dinners, a stable environment with more privacy, more space to spread out and a neighborhood where her son can make friends.
This dream of homeownership would not have been possible without generous sponsors, donors, and volunteers. In addition to the effort of local REALTORS®, top level sponsors of the campaign include Calcasieu Refining, Bay County Contractors and Associates, Jerry Wilson’s Roofing, Roberts & Roberts Inc., EPCI Code Administration Services, Marshall Brothers Construction & Engineering, Panhandle Engineering, Flooring Depot, Southern Lumber Supply, People’s First Insurance, and New American Funding.
After a slow start to the campaign three years ago, 2022 CPAR President, Susan West, made it her annual presidential objective to fully fund a habitat house by the end of her term.
Her goal of $70,000, the current cost of a habitat build, was met, and exceeded thanks to the generous support of REALTOR® members and campaign sponsors. As a result, CPAR will once again take up the challenge of fully funding a Habitat home in 2023! We’re already halfway to our fundraising goal!
