Central Panhandle Association of REALTORS® (CPAR) was awarded a $7,500 grant from the National Association of Realtors®’ (NAR) Housing Opportunity Program to support activities that create and expand affordable housing opportunities. The grant will be used to partner with the LEAD Coalition of Bay County on their annual Glenwoodopoly Homeowners and Buyers Fair.

Glenwoodopoly is a housing fair event hosted by the LEAD Coalition each year to support homeowners & homebuyers in the Glenwood community within Panama City, FL. The event connects individuals and families with resources that assist them on the path to homeownership and general homeowner needs. Real estate professionals including builders, lenders, REALTORS®, title companies and more will be on site to host workshops and offer their expertise to attendees. CPAR REALTORS® will support and amplify their event by way of grant funding and volunteer efforts. The event is free and open to the public and will be held on June 3, 2023 from 9 am to 3 pm at Rosenwald High School.

It is important to note that Glenwoodopoly was considered a perfect fit for the NAR Housing Opportunity grant and REALTOR® support. The work that LEAD Coalition has been doing with this housing fair in the Glenwood community easily qualified. Their broad community outreach and focus on bringing housing resources to a historically black and underserved community made the project “a perfect fit” according to NAR.

“Realtors® build communities and work hard to make the American Dream a reality for millions of Americans each year, we are thrilled to partner with Lead Coalition and get behind their ongoing efforts” said CPAR CEO Debbie Ashbrook, “This grant will help raise awareness about the need for more housing opportunities in the Glenwood Community while supporting our fight to increase the availability of affordable housing units.”

Nationwide, NAR offers Housing Opportunity Grants to various state and local Realtor® Associations in effort to support a wide range of housing opportunity initiatives, including housing symposia; home buyer education or housing fairs; counseling and financial literacy efforts; housing needs studies; and Realtor® affordable housing education.
